Training Camp here in Utah is going really well. Lots of good training, perfect weather, and a good atmosphere. The highlights of the camp so far are a hike in Park City, a killer classic ski up east canyon and lots of good combination training at Soldier Hollow. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Utah
I’m here in Utah for a two week training camp. This is my first training camp here in Utah, and so far it had been stellar. We are staying in a super sweet house, and the Soldier Hollow biathlon facility is super sweet. I forgot my camera cable this camp (instead of the whole thing) so pictures will be limited unit I get back to Maine. The weather here is super for training, lows in the high 30’s and lows in the low 60’s along with lots of sun. I’ll update again with a full camp write up and some of my own pictures.

Mondays
Mondays are often my favorite day of the week. Here at Maine Winter Sports Center we take Mondays off from training, which allows me to take care of some domestic tasks (laundry, dishes, equipment care shopping etc) and gives me the opportunity to spend some quality time asleep. While the rest of the world dreads Mondays as they return to work or school I rest and relax; unfortunately, Mondays off means that the weekend is just another day at the office for me. In fact Monday is the only day that is obviously different from any other day of the week. Mondays will become more and more likable as the intensity of fall training picks up.

Getting There
It is mid September and almost time for the busy, intense, and super killer awesome time of the year. In 3 weeks I leave for Soldier Hollow in Utah for a training camp. Shortly following I will be going to either Canmore Alberta or Silverstar British Columbia far an ON SNOW camp, but for now it’s training in Fort Kent. Life has settled into a predictable rhythm for me, however there is a lot of activity here in Fort Kent. This week was Homecoming week at the college in town and the kickoff of the harvest season. Just this morning a truck filled with potatoes fresh from the field rolled past my house. Fall is passing incredibly quickly and its almost time to..Go!

(Not) Back to School
It’s wacky but for the first time in 13 years (?!?!) I will not be going back to school tomorrow. I will be entering the 6th period of the training year. This period the focus is on combination shooting and fine tuning the general fitness acquired over the summer. The culmination of this training cycle will be a training camp in Soldier Hollow Utah.
