Life in Jericho

I slept on the top bunk.

Jericho

I have just finished up a weeklong camp in Jericho, culminating with the US Biathlon Summer Festival. The camp had a high intensity focus (hard effort lower total training volume). I was happy with my training efforts over the week, but not quite satisfied with my two race efforts. I had an atrocious sprint race with terrible shooting and skiing, the pursuit race was better with good skiing, but less than satisfactory shooting. The summer races in Jericho where an excellent introduction to shooting in race situations and left me with a lot to work on through the fall. After the pursuit race we cleaned that army barracks that we stayed in (a less than fun task) and drove right to the Carrabassett Valley Ski Academy, in Sugarloaf Maine. This ski academy has produced 10 Olympians including local heroes Bode Miller and Seth Wescott (who owns a really sweet bar/BBQ place right down the road. This camp will be physical training only since there is no biathlon range, however we will take an afternoon to do some skeet shooting, which I’m sure, will be a blast. After this camp I go back to Minnesota for 10 days, then back to Maine to begin the fall training cycle that promises to be challenging and fun.
